The time of my life

When graduation season approaches, I oftentimes nostalgically reflect back on my college career. I spent four wonderful years at Elon University in N.C. and wouldn't trade my college experience for anything in the world. As a 2006 grad, it's hard to believe I've now been out of school for as long as I was in school. I miss the beautiful campus, my friends and sorority sisters, my professors and the value that Elon upholds, but I am also proud of the life I've built and how far I've come since graduation.

This being the case, I realized there was no better time than now to pick up a copy of "Commencement." The book is said to focus on four girls who are reuniting four years after their college graduation for a wedding and it reflects back to the college years and their experiences since then. It "captures the intensity of college friendships, first loves and explores the complicated and contradictory landscape facing young women today."

"Their friendships have changed, but they're still devoted to each other. Together, they experience the ecstatic highs and painful lows of early adulthood."

This sounds quite similar to the nature of my college friendships today. Although we live in different cities scattered across the East coast, when we get together it's like nothing has changed. We are all growing separately and our lives are being shaped by the paths we've taken, but we are all cheering each other on and supporting each other's goals and dreams as we conquer the 20s.

No one ever told me how hard the 20s would be. I agree that it's full of ups and downs, happy times and disappointments, but I know each experience has made me the strong woman I am today. I can look back on the past few years and see how far I've come. I truly feel that these are the make or break it years that will mold you into the person you're meant to be.

The book is said to show how things apply to the girls' real lives after college in the matters of love, work and family. I am interested to read what happens as I have worked hard to find a balance between all these things. It's a labor of love.

I look forward to diving into this book and will let you know what I think.

For now, Long Live Elon and love to my friends near and far.

Sprinkles takes the cake

While in California I ventured over to the legendary Sprinkles for cupcakes—a must-do on the list. I loved the pink and chocolate brown decor and the flavor choices all sounded delicious. I couldn't choose just one!

After happily munching away, I have to say, Sprinkles takes the cake over Georgetown Cupcake. The taste of the actual cake was more flavorful and not dry at all with sickeningly-sweet fluffy icing and the cupcakes were bigger. Delish!

I had the Lemon Coconut and Strawberry and Bf had the Red Velvet and the Cinnamon Sugar. The Lemon Coconut was probably the best cupcake I've ever had and Bf thought the Red Velvet was extremely tasty as well. Two icing-covered thumbs up to Sprinkles!

I seem to be making the cupcake rounds so I'm thinking I may need a trip to NYC to sample Magnolia and Crumb next! I wish :)

Celebrate pink

Happy Pink & Green Thursday! I am joining the lovely Trish at Pink Preppy Lilly Lover to celebrate all things pink and green.

My little pink and green lovelies come from my California trip. I was tickled pink to find so many fun spots with the oh-so-cheery color combination. California is definitely living it up in pink and green.

First ever trip to Pinkberry.
Result: Loved it!!

I had the Red Carpet Dog.
I was in Hollywood, after all!

We may not have gone to The Ivy,
but we did go to the precious Ivy at the Shore!

The Ivy at the Shore, in Santa Monica
had the most beautiful pink and green exterior.

. . . and the inside was just as charming.

Three cheers for pink and green Thursday!
Until next time . . .

I'm back!

Happy Monday friends! Long time no see. I am back and have recuperated from my adventures out West. I had a wonderful time and really lived it up!! The purpose of the trip to California was to go to the wedding of one of the bf's closest friends from college. Bf grew up in Michigan, but went to college in California, therefore many of his friends are still out there meaning we get to visit them every now and then. Fun fun indeed! This was our second trip to California together (the last was for homecoming in 2007). Besides attending the wedding festivities in Palo Alto we also journeyed to San Francisco and L.A. Here's a few pics below and I'll share more this week.

Have a lovely evening!
