I played my cards right at a recent Junior League social at the Tory Burch store and ended up winning this fab tote below. Looks like I'll be stepping out in style this spring. Hooray for a little bit of good luck!
Happy Monday and welcome to the first edition of She's Got Style!
Today I'd like to introduce Taylor Townsend of The O.C. (Played by Autumn Reeser.) Taylor is the preppy, goody two-shoes rival of Marissa Cooper and Summer Roberts. A perfectionist and overachiever, Taylor makes it her goal to break up Summer and Seth Cohen, while battling for control over the school's social scene. With an emotionally cold mother who is a power-hungry sports agent and also chair of the parents' committee, Taylor is starved for attention. Summer and Seth eventually befriend her as she means well, and she ends up dating their best friend Ryan Atwood.
Set in Newport Beach, Calif., Taylor's style is a pleasant surprise with a mix of preppy and sophistication. She is always dressed to the nines and perfectly accessorized. She is perfectly put-together and her style is classy, yet still current with the trends. Most importantly, her style is always age-appropriate. I wouldn't mind stepping into one of her outfits for the day!
I hope you enjoyed the first edition of She's Got Style. I plan to make it a regular part of the blog. Check back next time to see who's up next!
Today I am performing at the Queen's Celebration at my church. The Queen's Celebration is an annual event for women who are underprivileged, abused, or neglected. Many are looking for work. The point of the banquet is to treat them like queens for a day and work-appropriate clothing is given to them as well as accessories, proper makeup, massages, a special lunch and entertainment - us the dancers. The intent is to meet their physical needs as well as their spiritual needs, by letting them know God loves them.
The dance troupe and I are going to perform "Beautiful" by Bethany Dillon. It's a really powerful and moving lyrical dance and I'm looking forward to performing it. Wish me luck! :)
Valentine's Day arrived early for me thanks to my sweet mom and dad. They are so kind to think of me and send me special treats. I am so thankful for my parents and the love they've always shown me. They were my Valentines for many years!
Skirt, shorts, top and headband - J. Crew
Dress - Anthropologie
Fun treats from the pets (Kitties Molly and Griffin and dog Rory).
Today, bf and I are headed to Disney to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early as well. Hopefully the rain will stay away. Happy Friday!
One of my latest Junior League projects was to bake heart-shaped cookies and deliver them to the Ronald McDonald House. I was so happy to bake cookies for the families and hope it warmed their hearts!
I enlisted Kimmie's help on how best to decorate the cookies since hers are always perfect. She suggested using royal icing and investing in squeeze bottles with removable tips. I found the perfect kit at Williams Sonoma. It may state kids on the box, but it was perfect for me :)
I typically do a glaze, but decided to give royal icing a try. Here it is all mixed up in the squeeze bottle and ready to go.
The icing ended up being really thick so I decided to go with a heart design instead of covering the whole cookie. I piped the outline first and went back and did the center heart. Next time I know to thin it out so I can cover the whole cookie smoothly.
I did a few larger hearts as well. Not smooth and perfect, but still cute :)
I sure do hope the families at the Ronald McDonald House enjoyed them!
Here are the fabulously wonderful items I received in the Pink Swap!! My adorable partner Melanie at The Pink Washingtoniette and I had the best time picking out the most perfect pretty pink items to send each other. It turns out - great minds think alike since we sent similar things :) As pictured above, I received a fabulous, fun, sparkly pink clutch with the cutest note attached (sparkly, pink clutches are a necessity!), a Lilly Pad, adorable napkins, pink barrettes, and all sorts of other fun items. The brownie hearts were delicious! I've been having a ball celebrating and using all my new pink pretties.
I absolutely love this flower arrangement by Martha Stewart. It'd make for a really cute table decoration for a Valentine's party or a great surprise gift to brighten up a friend's day. The red hots add a fun touch. Beautiful!
Hi friends! Last week I went to the PGA Merchandise Show for work and got to check out all the fun new equipment, products and clothes. Which booth is always my favorite? The Lilly one, of course. And guess what - the booth was decked out in the SUMMER line. I got a sneak preview, and let me tell you - It. Is. Wonderful. I fell in love with a fabulous beach bag (a new style - clear plastic and an adorable design with a woman on a pink bicycle if my memory serves me correctly), spaghetti strap McKims (new style!) and all the fun summery patterns. I also got to sit in the electric cart. Oh what fun! And OK, I guess my work assignment went alright as well :)
It is a rainy day here in O-town. Staying cheery though!
P.S. I will announce the giveaway winner later tonight.
