Wedding season: Part one

I think it's safe to say wedding season has officially arrived. I have numerous showers and weddings to attend and of course what is the first question to pop into my mind — what dress shall I wear? My mom would be so proud :)

I am now on the lookout for cute dresses to wear to showers and weddings that still fall within the budget. And no, the gorgie dresses below most likely aren't in the budget, but a girl can dream.

Row 1: Maggy London at Nordstrom, Lilly Pulitzer, Lilly Pulitzer
Row 2: Lilly Pulitzer, J. Crew, J. Crew
Row 3: J. Crew, BCBG, BCBG

*Where do you like to shop for your wedding season wardrobe?

When I'm attending showers, I typically like to wear a dress with a fun print and bright colors. I'll pair it with more subdued jewelry since the print makes the statement. If it's a wedding I'm going to, I'll often wear solids and pair it with bold accessories. I think it's OK to stand out at showers, but at weddings I don't want to end up matching the flowers/decor or steal the show from the bride who should be the main event. However, if you do choose a solid, you may want to find out what color the bridesmaids are wearing so that you do not match. Also, if the wedding invitation does not specify the attire, depending on the time of day, mid-day ceremonies are often a little less casual than an evening event. Not sure? It never hurts to ask.

Check back tomorrow for Wedding season: Part Two.

I'm attending a very special garden party wedding in May, and I must find a dress soon! The bride-to-be is a retro vintage queen and has exquisite taste, so I know it will be a wonderful wedding. Looking forward to seeing Part Deux!

Lovely choices! I've been to zillions of weddings but would you believe I am so often a bridesmaid that I rarely have to choose my own dress. Now I am at the stage in life that revolves around baby showers. And that usually requires a Lilly (or the like) sundress.

If you have one go to Nordstrom Rack they always have TONS of designer dresses at deep discounts. I stock up when I am home for all of my sorority functions and always get so many complements.

All such pretty choices!

A couple of summers ago I had three weddings to attend and luckily for me, all were with different people, so I decided to "splurge" and I got a Marc Jacobs dress to wear to all 3 events - it made things so easy because I just switched up accessories for each wedding.

I know what you mean....I have three weddings three weekends in a row. I have dresses for weddings 1 and 2 and just bought a dress for number 3. I decided I needed a new dress for the third because my ex will be there. Save the knockout dress for last :-)

My daughter got several of the new Liberty of London dresses at Target that are just adorable and so reasonable!! They come in real pretty bright prints! Good luck finding just the perfect dresses. Love & blessings from NC!

Love them all. Mostly love the yellow Lilly, first one in the second row. May have to wear that to one of my weddings this summer. Thanks for the idea! And happy shopping! :)

I like wearing dresses too to showers! The hard thing is finding dress with a pattern that's fun that you actually get to wear twice!
