Dance time

Tonight is dress rehearsal and tomorrow night is performance time! We are performing in a show called "Together" that is put on by Dance for the Heart, a non-profit group. My dance troupe and a few other groups were invited to be part of the show and all the proceeds go to the American Heart Association. I am excited!
One of the dances I'm in is to Feelin' Good by Michael Buble and it's a sassy, jazzy number. We're wearing red tees with little black vests our costumer designer sewed for us and black pants. Another dance I'm in is You are For Me by Kari Jobe. We each got to pick a scrap of brightly colored fabric and write our favorite quote or verse about hope on these and they were sewed onto tank tops and we're wearing jeans for the bottoms. It is fun to dance in jeans! This dance is a lyrical/contemporary style. The third dance is a ballet to Ave Maria and they are wearing beautiful cap sleeve light blue dresses. Sadly no tutus!
The dances represent love, hope and sorrow, which is part of our theme — Restoration. I can't wait to perform tomorrow night and see what the other dance groups are doing!!

Here is a new snack I found at Target. Clif, the company that makes Clif bars and Luna bars, has come out with this yummy fruit snack. It is a twisted, fruity rope, similar to a fruit leather in a Twizzler form. The best part about it — one twist is a whole serving of fruit and only 70 calories! It is made only of natural ingredients. This will be convenient to throw in my dance bag to give me a pop of energy when I need it. And yes, it says kid on the wrapper, but who says adults can't eat it too? I also must admit I love the Clif kids bars. They have fewer calories and come in great flavors — chocolate brownie, honey graham, peanut butter and chocolate chip are a few of my favorites. Look for these snacks the next time you're at Target.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fun in the sun

Today was my bf's company picnic. I took the day off and it was so much fun! We first had a mini-golf competition and then went to Rock Springs, which is outside Orlando. We had a barbeque lunch and there were lots of fun games and friendly competition. Rock Springs was really peaceful. You can get inner tubes and float down the river. I liked doing that, but was on the lookout for snakes or alligators :) (Picture above is where we floated down). All in all it was a great day and the weather was just perfect.

I will announce the giveaway winner tomorrow :) Thanks to those who entered!

Weekend recap

Aren't long weekends fun? I hope everyone had a great one, mine sure was action packed. I saw two movies, Night at the Museum and Terminator, spent some time at the pool, stopped by Universal and went on a couple rides, watched my bf and his brother play in a tennis match, ate yummy food, and enjoyed the sunshine. It's back to business now! Dance and the last JL general membership meeting for the summer are tonight, followed by more dance practice the rest of the week. We're doing a show this Saturday and I can't wait.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway — go here and tell me which A. Tierney bangle is your favorite!

P.S. Those who have recently gone private, I would love an invite!! (

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!
We had a great service at church yesterday complete with patriotic music, a slideshow with names of those who died serving our country in the past year and special flower arrangements to honor them. This reminded me that Memorial Day is not just about going to the pool and kicking off summer—it is to remember those who give their all for our country. Thank you to those who serve! You will be remembered.
Enjoy your day friends!

Blue skies ahead

Blueberry Cream Cheese Rolls (
2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp sugar
One 1/4-ounce package active dry yeast
2 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups plus 2 Tbsp milk
1 large egg
4 cups flour
2 cups confectioners sugar
4 ounces cream cheese
One 10-ounce jar blueberry preserves

1. Combine 1/4 cup warm water, 1 tsp sugar and the yeast; let stand for 5 minutes.
2. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter with the salt and the remaining two Tbsp sugar until fluffy. Beat in 1 1/4 cups milk, the egg and the yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour at low speed. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for two minutes. Place in a greased bowl and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate overnight to let rise.
3. Using an electric mixer, beat the confectioners sugar, cream cheese and remaining two Tbsp milk.
4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9 by 13 baking pan. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a 12 by 16-inch rectangle. Spread the blueberry preserves on the dough, leaving a two-inch border. Roll up lengthwise and seal the edges. Slice into 12 pieces and place in the pan cut sides up. Bake until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Top with the cream cheese icing.

**I saw this recipe on the Rachael Ray web site and couldn't resist. It reminds me of summer and I bet it is to die for with that cream cheese icing. I will have to make a batch of these for sure. They are definitely Blueberry Muffin (from Strawberry Shortcake) approved!

If you don't have time to bake, you can still get that deliciously sweet berry scent with this body wash from Bath and Body Works. The line is 100% Pure and this is their organic blueberry shower gel with blueberry juice and anti-aging nutrients packed in.

Top it all off with this grosgrain blueberry-colored bow headband from Forever 21.

**I have a busy night with dance rehearsal for a show we have coming up and our last provisional social with Junior League. The sun popped out for a little bit today. Yay! Catch ya later! :)

Rainy days

Lately, it has been raining like crazy! I thought it was just the Florida afternoon rainstorms that were starting up, but it's just been pouring — all day, every day. I am not prepared for this and am in need of some rain gear. The weather forecast says to expect heavy rain and thunderstorms for the next 10 days so I better stock up. Here are some cute options to brighten up a rainy day.

There is a yummy cupcake shop in Orlando that bf took me to this weekend. He has brought me cupcakes from there before, but this was my first time actually visiting it. It is so cute! It's called Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly. My favorite is the mini cupcakes. You can get a box of four and it's perfect to share. They have lots of yummy flavors and I love the pink decor. It was a yummy treat! Here are a few that we tried:

Cinnamon sugar

Orange creamsicle

We also had a Snowball cupcake. It was dark chocolate with pink buttercream and coconut.

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend. We saw Angels and Demons, which was great, and I even played some golf yesterday followed by a nice cool dip in the pool. I live for the weekends! :)
I am excited that Bachelorette starts tonight and So you think you can dance later this week! We are almost through Monday. Have a great night!

A New Look

As you can see, The Pink Tutu has undergone a makeover! Lucky moi was the winner of Muffy's giveaway and received this redesign by Jessica from This That and Your Blog. Jessica was fabulous to work with! She was so prompt and hardworking and I really enjoyed getting to know her better. Jessica was so sweet to do a total makeover with the works - signature, button, header and everything. I am loving the bright and fresh new look! Some of the sidebar items are still under construction though, and I'm working on those. I hope you like the new look too and if you're in need of a makeover for your blog, check with Jessica here
Have a FABULOUS weekend!

In the Limelight

Today we have a little limeade going on at The Pink Tutu. As one who adores all things lime, lime green and so on . . . I was excited to find my favorite green citrus in a variety of accessories at Kate Spade. Although I try to do my part for the environment, maybe I will go green in style as well with a few of these treasures. (A diet coke with lime is really sounding good right now!)

Jitney coin purse

Lime slice ring

On the rocks fruit chain

Slice earring

luau flip flops

On the rocks charm bracelet

The charm bracelet is my favorite. I can just see it paired with some cute gold sandals and a brightly-colored sundress, drink in hand. Maybe a gin and tonic to continue the lime theme? I also love the cocktail ring. And of course all of these accessories would look fabulous with your summer whites!

Bring on summer!

I am in such a summery mood today. We had a big cookout at work with hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixins'. I made and brought cupcakes of course! It was fun to hang out with coworkers and play around outside a little bit. It is super hot though! The best part of all was that we were allowed to wear shorts and flip flops. Fun fun!
Summer got me thinking about the beach and other fun things to do. I have had my eye on this BCBG dress below and will hopefully make it mine. Crossing my fingers that it will go on sale! It would be perfect to wear to a bridal shower or out for cocktails after a nice relaxing day spent by the ocean. Cheers to summer and the fun it brings!

I love the ruffle detailing and I would tie the bow in the front. Too cute!

Stepping out in style

For all the shoe-loving recessionistas out there, instead of splurging on a new pair of heels, why not dress up an old pair? Absolutely Audrey designs shoe clips to make your shoes even more fabulous. The result? Instant glamour! They are relatively inexpensive at only $10-25 per pair and come in three styles — vintage, chic or wedding.
The vintage styles are converted from vintage accessories such as brooches, earrings, and pendants. The chic collection includes custom designed styles. They also recommend using the clips on purses, scarves or whatever you can dream up. Not a bad idea!

Charm Blue

The Audrey

Anna black

The Maxine

I think this would also be a fun DIY project. Find some fun pendants, buttons, pins or bows and glue them onto the back of clip-on earrings and voila — shoe clips! I may have to give this a try. My mom loves to embellish flip flops. She decorated some ribbon ones for me recently that are too cute. I will post a pic of them soon!

** I am off to my last JL provisional meeting tonight. We are supposed to get our cookbooks. I can't wait! Well, hopefully we will. They were totally sold out, but said they would try to track some down for us. I surely hope so! I'm going to be sad not to see these ladies every month for our meetings anymore. That just means we now have an excuse to plan some parties and get-togethers! Enjoy your night. :)

Deadline day!

I had a big deadline at work today and what better way to put all the stress behind me than to work off a little steam. I came home from Easter with the 30 Day Shred and decided to give it a try tonight. It was a great workout! It felt good to sweat it out. I really like how it includes strength training, cardio and abs work. It's also nice that there are two representations of the moves with a harder and more basic example so you can choose who to follow. It's great for any level. I am hoping to keep it up and do it as often as I can. It's already bathing suit season here in Florida :) Time to step it up!

Stop and smell the flowers

Things have been very busy in Pink Tutu land this week with work deadlines and all sorts of things! Thanks so much for all the well-wishes, I had a wonderful time on my northern adventure. The colder weather was a nice change from the Florida heat. We had a great time at the wedding and were able to spend some time on the boat as well as other fun things in Traverse City. Yay for great weekend adventures!
I'm buzzing around and getting caught up on things and back into the routine now. There is always time to stop and smell the flowers though! I promise to read your lovely posts and comment away soon. For now, here are a few necessities that are getting me through the week:

Nothing like a good dose of caffeine!
The Home/Work/Play Lilly Pad.
Perfect for keeping my to-do lists organized!

The Bobbi Brown hydrating eye cream does wonders for those under eye circles!

We have almost made it to the weekend. Three cheers for that!
