Weekend adventure

Hello friends! Tonight I am headed out of town for the weekend with my boyfriend. As you can see above, we are going to Traverse city which is where T. grew up. His parents still live there in the summer/fall. It is at the very tip-top of Michigan! For a southern girl like me, it was quite an adventure going up there the first time I visited. It is just so breathtakingly beautiful though! It is very peaceful. Last summer we went to the famous cherry festival and also went cherry picking. Yum yum! Traverse City is the cherry capital of the world.

    Back to the trip, we're going because T. is in his friend's wedding. The wedding is actually in Grand Rapids, so I'm excited to see that area. We are going to stop and visit his grandparents on our journey from Traverse City to Grand Rapids and I'm so excited to meet them!

    I am leaving my sundresses, skirts and shorts behind because it will probably be quite chilly compared to the warm Florida weather we've been having here. Have a wonderful weekend and I will be back after my northern adventure!

The Pink Tutu    

Lucky me!

I was so excited this morning to discover that I was a winner of one of Muffy's giveaways!!! I won a blog makeover by This, That and Your Blog. How simply fabulous! It looks like The Pink Tutu will be getting all dolled up soon. Hooray! Thank you both so much.

In fact, I had quite a pink tutu weekend! It was a weekend full of dance and I so love to be a dancin' queen. My church is doing a series on Heaven right now and asked the dance troupe to perform. We were so excited! We danced at the Saturday night service and the two Sunday services to the always beautiful, "I Can Only Imagine". We did not wear pink tutus of course :) but wore our white pants and top combo since we were portraying angels. It went very well!

I am so sorry for the lack of posts and commenting lately. Things have been quite busy, but I promise to catch back up soon. Have a lovely evening!       

Happy Earth Day

Disneynature's movie, earth, opens today. In honor of every ticket sold during opening week, Disney will plant a tree. I really commend them for this! Being an animal lover, I am hoping to see this movie. I just hope it's not too sad. Does anyone else plan on seeing earth? I love how it follows three groups of animals and their journey through day-to-day life. I am expecting a lot of trees will be planted because of this. Great job Disney!

Recap

Congrats to my dad for running the Boston Marathon today!! This is the second time he's qualified to run in it. He finished around 3:35. I'm very proud of him and wish I could have been there. Great job dad! Here is a picture of my parents and I in Sandestin last summer (sister wasn't able to go).  

I had a busy fun weekend! Friday I went do a dinner and performance by the Orlando opera at my boyfriend's parents country club. It was great! Saturday I did a little shopping and went to the Blue Note Ball put on by Junior League. I had a ball and the ladies in charge did a fabulous job!! It was at the Orlando History Center and was outside with the silent auction inside. It was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. T. and I danced the night away. Fun fun! I am loving the fabulous weather we've been having. Monday is almost over, time to move on to the rest of the week!

A preppy home

While home over Easter, I was flipping through a few magazines my mom had and came across the most adorable room in Better Homes and Gardens. The room was designed by Audrey Soldau of Bravado Design. You may have seen her work here in this charming coastal wedding her company did. The room featured was a charming yellow, white and pink sitting room with a fabulous monogrammed pillow. I searched for it online and could not find it, but I was in luck when I found an article on the rest of her cottage in Budget Decorating. 

     The story mentions the cute room I saw, but doesn't picture it. Instead, it features the rest of her adorable, cheery cottage that was inspired by Lilly Pulitzer fabric. Audrey took Ikea pieces and flea market treasures and customized them into her own preppy wonderland. She even bought J. Crew sweaters and turned them into pillows. Monograms are found throughout the cottage and it's all so "Preppy Chic" as the story is called. At the end of the story it gives directions on how she made her monogrammed pillows. Dancin' Queen

I had dance practice tonight and we started working on a new song. We're doing modern dance to "You are for Me" by Kari Jobe. It's such a beautiful song! I posted the YouTube video if you want to listen to it. I wasn't able to dance for Easter, so it felt good to get back to dance again tonight.  

I had my third JL provisional meeting last night and was excited to find out that I've completed all my hours and everything. Yay! We are working on figuring out what to put on our list of choices for placement. I'm not sure what would be best for me! Did any of you Junior Leaguers have a committee you really liked being on or know what's best for someone to start out with? I'm also really excited because Saturday is our Blue Note Ball. It will be fun to dance the night away!! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. We're halfway through! :)

Checking in!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!! I had a great time at home and got to spend lots of time with my family. We went shopping, had dinner with friends, relaxed at home and had a lot of yummy food. My mom and I got mani/pedis on Thursday morning and it was so fun. I got a hot pink on my toes and it looks so bright and cheery for spring. On the way to the nail place, which was a super cute nail boutique, I spotted the Lilly jeep. Lo and behold there was Mint Julep - one of the only Lilly stores in Atlanta. Of course we had to pop in for a look. I also got to watch the Masters a little bit every day. Oh how I wish I were there! After church on Easter Sunday we had a delicious brunch and I got to see a little of the Masters before I had to head to the airport. What fun times! It was a great weekend and now it's Monday and a busy week ahead. I'm excited for a few Junior League things this week. Have a great afternoon/night! 

Headed home!

Tonight after work I am flying home for Easter. I haven't been home since Christmas, so I am more than excited to get there. I have a fun weekend planned with my family. I can't wait! I'll be back Sunday night. Have a HAPPY EASTER!

I'm back!

Thanks everyone for the warm wishes! I am back in Orlando and had a FABULOUS time on the cruise. I had an absolute blast and am missing being on the boat! Friday after we checked in and boarded, we celebrated at the bon voyage party on deck and enjoyed the hot tub. Then, we got dressed up for dinner and went to see a comedian at the welcome aboard show. Later there was a 70s disco party going on, so of course I had to do a little dancing. Fun times! Saturday we layed out on deck and then arrived in Nassau around lunch time. We had fun walking around the city and took a cab to see Atlantis. What a pretty resort! I enjoyed seeing the aquarium. That night we had another wonderful dinner and saw a magician show. This was the formal night and it was fun to get a little more dressed up. There was also a Dancing Under the Stars party on the top deck with a midnight buffet. Fun fun! Sunday we arrived at Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean's private island, for another day full of fun in the sun. We snorkeled and I was so excited to see a sting ray! We also spent some time in the hammocks and explored the island. After our last dinner we walked around the ship, went to the casino and saw a late night comedy show. Overall, it was a fabulous vacation!!! A big thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for surprising me :)

Beach tote

I saw these totes in the Pottery Barn Kids catalogue and thought they were too cute. The two large sizes are listed as adult totes. How perfect for the beach! I also think they look adorable with a monogram. Your color choices? Pink or green of course. It's nice that they have an outside pocket as well to store car keys or hotel room keys so they don't get lost on the inside with everything else. I am loving the pink one, but with a green monogram. Just add a matching towel and you're good to go!
