Pink Swap!!

My pink items arrived yesterday!! I was oh so excited to discover a package full of wonderful pink and green things from my fabulous swap partner Kimmie.
Here are the items all packaged up in their pink and green wonderfulness with adorable polka dot bows. And how fabulous is that cupcake card?

My items were all tucked neatly into the adorable pink box with the pink and yellow damask print below. I got a pink foldable grocery bag that will be perfect for when I go to the store, some adorable pink and green notecards that I just love (they are too cute!), some preppy pink and green M&M's (chocolate is always better in pink and green), and some super yummy Philosophy products. Philosophy products are my favorite!! Three delicious flavors of Red Velvet Cake, Strawberry Shortcake and Sweet Creamy Frosting were all tucked inside the recipe box and it even came with recipe cards for each one inside it. I am a lucky girl to receive all these wonderful items! Thank you Kimmie!! (Unfortunately the pics do not do it justice so I will try to take more later.)

And here is what I sent Kimmie. To see what was inside, check it out on her blog

All in all, this pink swap was a success. Thanks Hopsy for hosting it!!

I will be back later with an update on what I've been up to. The PGA Show is in town so I've been attending that. I must say there are some very cute preppy items at the show! The show features everything from the latest golf equipment to cute golf accessories, apparel and all kinds of fun things. Lilly has an adorable booth set up and the Jeep is there!! I will try to get some photos of the cute things I've spotted if they allow me. My assignment is to pick items for a gift guide so I have had a fun time shopping around. Have a wonderful day and I'll be back later!

Yummy recipe

Last week I made some really yummy chocolate chip macaroons and wanted to pass the recipe along, so here it is!

1 package Baker's Angel Flake Coconut
2/3 cup sugar ( I used less because the coconut is already sweetened)
3 tablespoons flour
pinch of salt
2 egg whites
chocolate chips (throw in however many you want)
*Mix all ingredients together and drop by tablespoons onto a baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 mins.

To make them extra pretty, put them in mini-muffin papers. These would be great to serve at a Valentine's party or to bring in to work for a special treat.

(Muffin papers, Crate and Barrel)

How cute is this apron? It's perfect for Valentine's Day or for a hostess throwing a Valentine's party.

Book Review

"Forget Diamonds — chocolate is a girl's best friend."
The Chocolate Lovers' Club by Carole Matthews

I found this delectable book at the library recently and it did not disappoint. If you love chocolate, you must read it! The story revolves around four friends and their experiences in love, life, friendship and chocolate, of course. Good friends and good chocolate are a must in life.

Here is a preview:
Some women are addicted to shopping, others can't get enough of champagne. Some like to curl up with a good book, and others want a night out on the town.
But there's just one thing Lucy Lombard can't live without, and that's chocolate — rich, creamy, sweet, delicious chocolate.
For her there's no substitute. There's nothing it won't cure, from heartache to headache, and she's not alone. Sharing her passion are her three best friends and fellow addicts: sweet, peace-loving Autumn, harried mom Nadia, and glamorous Chantal. Together they form a select group known as the Chocolate Lovers' Club. Whenever there's a crisis, they meet in their sanctuary, a cafe called Chocolate Heaven, and with a cheating boyfriend who promises he'll change, a flirtatious boss, a gambling husband, and a loveless marriage, there's always plenty to discuss.
By turns hilarious and heartrending, The Chocolate Lovers' Club brings together four unforgettable women from totally different worlds united in their passion for chocolate."

Warning: You will crave all kinds of delicious chocolate after reading this :) Enjoy!

This and that . . .

Happy Monday! I had a full and busy weekend. Here is a little bit of what I was up to:

Saturday was the Junior League retreat. I had such a fabulous time getting to know everyone better and learning about the history and things we do in the Orlando chapter. During the afternoon we went on a bus tour and saw some of the places we'll be volunteering at as well as meeting locations and headquarters. It was a lot of fun! My first General Membership meeting is tomorrow and we're having a social beforehand so we can all go to our first meeting together. I am excited to meet some more active members and see what a meeting is like!

After I got home from the retreat I watched Miss America. I was beyond excited at all of the dancing that went on in the talent portion!!!!! I absolutely loved Miss Florida and Miss Michigan's dances. Florida's was so cute and Michigan had some fabulous leaps and turns. Someone also did a tap dance that I loved, but I cannot remember which contestant it was. Miss Hawaii's native dance was also fabulous. I was surprised that Miss Indiana won, but wow was she shocked and thrilled. I liked how they made it a little more fun and upbeat this year. Did anyone else tune in?

Sunday was spent working at an outdoor golf event. It was nice to be outside for the day and I had fun hanging out and getting some sun.

Last night was craft time. I bought a wooden frame and wooden letter "A" from Michael's and painted some stripes on. I then painted the letter and glued that and a ribbon on. Pretty simple and fun to do!

All in all it was a busy, but fun weekend. I'm looking forward to watching the Bachelor tonight!!

Drop A Line

I was reading through an issue of Self magazine while I was getting my hair cut the other night and came across this stationery kit they featured. I thought it would make the perfect gift for someone who loves sending handwritten notes. The kit is full of all kinds of fun things and even a book of tips for note-writers!

From the Web site: "The Perfect Note — This all-in-one desktop kit is a stationery-lover's dream. It features 24 cards and envelopes, an ink pad and stamps, a variety of stickers and labels as well as a 48-page booklet chock-full of tips and templates all housed in a gorgeous keepsake box. From writing the perfect thank-you, invite, or condolence card to dropping a quick note to say hello, this kit will enhance and enrich all kinds of correspondence."

P.S. Legally Blonde tickets went on sale in Orlando today. I am debating about purchasing some. I'm sure I would love the show!! Who recommends it?

Second Chance by Jane Green
"She had been at a friend's house in Sydney, having a cookout, when she met Marcus. Sitting on the grass in frayed denim shorts and a T-shirt, she was brown as a berry from the traveling, the smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose now so plentiful, they almost created the tan themselves. Marcus had stood out, even then, with his odd formality. He'd looked like a stuffy English lawyer in his Ralph Lauren polo shirt, tucked into chino shorts belted with a plaited brown belt."

I tag:
(Don't worry about it if you have already done this one!)

Catching up!

Here are a few awards I have been lucky to receive. Thanks to everyone for making my day! I love being part of our blog community and have so much fun reading about your lives and your favorite things. Thanks for reading, commenting and making me smile!

Hopsy at Monograms and Manicures and Molly at Less of a Marilyn, More of a Jackie have so kindly given me the Lemonade Award. Hopsy is so sweet and always finds the best Lilly P. items. She has such a caring and gracious heart and we have a lot in common. I also love reading about Molly's life and her experiences with roommates, activities and journalism classes at school. She brings me back to college and I always love her comments.

Thank you to The Preppy Princess for the Fabulous Award! Well, the Princess is SO fabulous and fun herself. I love reading her blog and getting updated on what's new in the fashion world. I'm so looking forward to ordering some Lilly stationery from her soon!

Amanda C. Bee has given me the New Year's award! Thank you Amanda, I've had so much fun reading about your European adventures. So fabulous! Check out her latest pics from her New Year's trip to Scotland.

Here are the rules. You must be a true lover of the New Year to receive this award. List five things that you love about the new year.
1. New adventures to be had!
2. Making new resolutions and sticking to them.
3. My 25th birthday in March!
4. Traveling to new places.
5. The new and fabulous collections of clothes that come out. Spring clothes are my fave!

I tag whoever wants to participate! I know many of you have received these awards already, but if you haven't I choose you :)

Thanks again for the awards! I have also been tagged with the book award and will be back later with that. Currently, the books closest to me are the AP Stylebook (for writing) and the official media guides of the PGA/LPGA. Not that interesting so I will go with one from home. (No worries, I will do as the rules say and choose the one closest to me.) Have a wonderful afternoon!

Be Mine

I saw this sweet little floral arrangement while browsing the Martha Stewart web site today and wanted to pass it along. Although it is a little early to be thinking about Valentine's Day, it was too cute to pass up. I love the pastel colors and the cheeriness of using the candy hearts in the vase. This would be fun to put together a few to decorate a table for a Valentine's party. I can just see them at a Valentine's tea party — how perfect. Thanks Martha!

Brittney at Running in High Heels has tagged me with the Honest Scrap award. Thanks Brittney, I love reading your blog! Here are 10 truths about me:

1. I am a list-maker! I have all sorts of lists on all kinds of different notepads everywhere and sometimes it is secretly fun when I find an old one and can cross things off.

2. I have danced since I was three and was a cheerleader in middle school, high school and my freshman year in college at Elon. I am stubborn and didn't cheer after my first year there because after the season was over, they decided they wanted to require the team to go to study hall together. Well, I was pledging Sigma Kappa and one of our requirements was to attend study hall. My cheerleading coach would not let me combine the two and I wasn't about to be in study hall for hours and hours every single night when I already had great grades anyway, so I said goodbye to cheerleading. Worked out though because I got involved in many other things!
3. The summer after my sophomore year I did an internship with the American Junior Golf Association. I was on the west coast team and traveled all over as a communications intern. I also had to be a rules official, even though this was my first experience in golf. This is where my walkie-talkie came in. On a daily basis I would call in for help, example — "umm, a boy's golf ball got stuck in a tree, what is the ruling again?? . . . " Once I thought I could make a ruling myself, yeah, it was wrong.

4. I have quite a sweet tooth. I could eat only sweets for a meal and be satisfied. This is very bad, don't worry I don't actually do this.

5. I love all things Disney and I'm not afraid to admit this. That includes the Disney Channel and High School Musical!

6. I have an interesting monogram. My initials are AEP so when they are in monogram form they end up being —  aPe. Now don't get me wrong because I love my whole name, but I prefer to just have aep straight across when I have something monogrammed :)

7. I studied abroad in Barbados. I don't like to admit this, but it really was like a vacation. In my defense I did have to read books, journal and have quizzes. And I did learn a lot. But, I also went to the beach every day. (This was during winter term, so just a month long.)

8. My real-life best friend Emily (Life Is A Party) and I have a love of feather boas!! At Elon we loved to be silly and wear them. We once wore them to the movies and got our littles to wear them as well. It made for a fun big-little outing!

9. I have to dress appropriately for holidays. Whether it's St. Patrick's Day, The 4th of July, Valentine's Day or Halloween, you will find me in the correct colors and usually with a matching headband and accessories. I find great joy in this. I ignore the teasing of co-workers and others. I figure, why not be cute and celebrate? All thanks to my mom because she gathers up fabulous holiday items and sends me a package.

10. If I could have any job in the world, I would be a Radio City Rockette.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to play along.

Ball Gowns Through the Years

I came across a photo gallery of Inaugural ball gowns through the years and wanted to share a few photos. The rest can be found at Yahoo News or Fox News. It's really fun to see how the gowns have evolved over the years.

Well, it's that time again. Time to begin a new week! I had a fabulous weekend. I loved Bride Wars and my friends and I just couldn't stop laughing during the movie. What a fun one to see with the girls. Riverdance was just amazing, incredible and fabulous!!! I so wish I knew how to do Irish dancing. The dancers looked like they were having such a fun time performing and interacting together. I wanted to jump right up on that stage and join in. If you've never seen Riverdance, check and see if a tour is coming your way. It is worth seeing it. The music is fabulous, and as well as Irish dancing they had a flamenco dancer and Russian dancers. In between all the dancing there were violin and some type of bagpipe solos, singers and other fabulous numbers to mix it up a bit. I love love loved it!
Also over the weekend I made a trip to the Lilly store in Winter Park. Winter Park is the cutest place! There is a street, Park Avenue, lined with shops and cafes and it's so fun to spend an afternoon there. Here a few Lilly P. things I picked up to tide me over between winter and spring:

(And yes this one is a Minnies but it's cute, the right price and fits so that is fine with me :) )

Enjoy your Sunday night before another busy week begins!

January 17, 2009

Tonight I am going to see Riverdance with T and his parents!! I couldn't be more excited. Surprisingly I have never seen Riverdance, despite my love for all types of dance. Last May, my dance troupe put together a show and one of our dances was a Riverdance-type tap piece set to a celtic version of Jesus Loves Me. It was very powerful and fun to do. I can't wait to see the show tonight!

Before the show we are having dinner at Seasons 52, one of my favorite restaurants. Each season they change the menu and the food is very fresh and tasty with everything on the menu under 500 calories. The best part is dessert. They bring out a tray with mini indulgences, which are shot glass-sized desserts. Some yummy flavors are key lime, red velvet, carrot cake, cheesecake with a mango topping, peanut butter mousse and boston cream.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I will be keeping Kelly and Harper in my thoughts/prayers.

Happy Friday!

I am off to a girl's night out and can't wait to catch up with my dance girls. After spending about 30 hours a week in rehearsals with them before our performances in December, I have missed seeing them on a daily basis.
Tonight is all about some pizza:

. . . and Bride Wars!!!

I am sooo very excited to see this movie!
Have a wonderful weekend :)
