In her honor, we decided on a kitchen shower theme. Some other bridesmaids had a late afternoon around the house shower for her at the Melting Pot and my friend and I decided we wanted to do something a little more traditional.
We chose a pink and green theme and decided on these invitations. The top of the invitation said, "Elizabeth and Joey are tying the knot. Let's make sure their new kitchen is stocked." We also included a recipe card with the invitation and instructed everyone to bring it back with their favorite recipe.
(not the real info)
We ordered a recipe box with the bride's new monogram on it and everyone will place the recipe card in the box so she will be all set to cook some delicious meals. I love that each card will have the person who brought it's handwriting on it and it will be something they specially thought she would like. It's all about the personal touches.
As for decorations, we are using mason jars filled with beautiful hydrangeas with coordinating pink and green ribbons tied around. My mom and I made a wreath for the door that will have matching ribbon and little kitchen tools like measuring spoons etc., tied on to go along with the theme and the mailbox will have a big bow as well. We will have a matching tablecloth and the bride's chair will be specially decorated with a big tulle bow tied around. We decided to use paper plates for easy clean-up. We also have an apron that will be hung up as a decoration that everyone will sign.
Here is the menu (shower starts at 11):
Iced Coffee Punch (coffee/ice cream drink)
To snack on:
Pineapple cheese ball with crackers
Two types of quiche
Mini chicken salad pitas
Salad (with strawberries, walnuts etc.)
Cream cheese brownies
The bride has requested no games so we plan on having everyone mingle, eat and then watch the bride open presents. For a favor, my mom and I made and decorated sugar cookies in the shape of little hearts and wedding bells.
I had a lot of fun planning this and can't wait to see how it turns out. I will take lots of pictures and be sure to share!
