Business casual

Dear readers,
I work in a business casual office, emphasis on the casual. Men sport polos and khakis and women wear a variety of things and can even get away with knee-length shorts. Recently we were sent a memo reminding us all of our dress code and that jeans and flip flops are not allowed (except Fridays). Well, my problem lies not in the clothes—my standard uniform is a dress and cardigan—but in my shoes. I have a love of ballet flats, being the tutu queen that I am, and sandals. I have never been a big heel wearer. As of the recent memo, I am concerned that my sandals may lean more toward the flip flop side. They are not flip flops for sure, as I would never commit that work faux-pas, but after being in this office for three years I am ready for big girl shoes. Yes, let's bring on the heels. I am now on a search for some new work shoes and am hoping you can help me out.
Sincerely,
The Pink Tutu

*I have seriously been on a search for tan or nude-colored shoes for months and have found only one pair, which is below, on Piperlime. If I decide to make these mine, today is my lucky day because they are having a 20 percent off sale on pumps, today only.
Pretty please send your favorite shoe ideas my way!

i think those shoes are wonderful! take advantage of the 20% off and if you have any doubts, send them back. i believe piperlime has free returns? i guess the way i see it is i'd rather get them now while they are on sale and decide later instead of getting them later but having to pay full price? did you follow that, haha!

Those are daling shoes! If you are not sure if you are ready for the "big girl heels," may I suggest trying a "wedge" for a more casual office? It might be the perfect bridge between flats and heels for you! Wedges give you some dressiness but also the comfort of flats :)

If you are ready for the high heels, I love that you are looking at a nude pair! I myself have been on the hunt for a nude pair of heels! Also, navy blue or cream is a good way to go too! :)

I love nude heels, if you are concerned about getting used to heels you might want to look at the Cole Haans that use the NIKE AIR cushioning, I have a pair and love them!

Hi! I just recently came across your blog. Banana Republic has great shoes, they are cute and comfortable. I have gotten 2 nude pairs from there this summer. Also, I am sure you are aware of J.Crew's shoes...but, they are always adorable and comfy!

I'd try a lower espadrille wedge - these are smart yet casual and perfect for summer. Also - check out the Sofft shoes on Zappos - they are the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear! Good luck!

oh those are adorable!! you must get them! I am not a huge heel wearer either {flat feet :)} but I did end up finding two pairs that I love for very cheap when a store was going out of business. Same kind but different colors.

I love those pumps! good neutral color, they would go with everything!

I usually hit up places like tj maxx and marshalls to find good work heels...most of them are like $29.99!

Piperlime is owned by Gap Inc. so I definitley don't want to put them down because I work for them, but I also have to promote Banana Republic. I love our heels... they are very good quality and are work appropriate! Either place is a good choice :)

Those shoes are great! I would check Aldo, or Lauren by Ralph Lauren. They have a great selection at a decent price.

those are darling shoes and my office is the same re fashion. I find that bonannos = you're in the clear. when in doubt I always ask myself if I'd wear it to church or lunch with a grandmother. if I would, it's good to go. you've got good taste and good judgement- I don't think you'd do anything inapprop.

happy friday lovie!

I hunted for nude-colored shoes forever too...before finding these lovelies! http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7512687/c/140836.html

Now I own two pairs (sad, I know), and wear them ALL the time.

Those are great, I am also a fan of Naughty Monkey's pumps (the sarah palin pumps) because they are SO comfortable!

Those shoes are really cute. Talbots occasionally has cute shoes. I tend to find the best ones at Kate Spade. But it has been harder and harder to find shoes that I love. Best of luck. xoxo

these are lovely. As a shoe worshiper I was want to say welcome to the world of high heels. and at some point, invest in a pair of Jimmy Choos. bliss and heaven on your feet.

And Rose, a blogger friend of mine, has this shoe website of all the shoes she owns. Check it out for ideas. she usually links where you can get them, even tho she's a Brit, I an find most of these State side or they will internationally ship!
