Beat the heat

I am back from vacation! Thanks for all the have fun wishes. My family and I had a wonderful trip! We spent most of our time relaxing on the beach, taking dips in the ocean, cooling off in the pool and eating yummy food. I wish I were still there! Although it was quite hot, more so than usual. And it's even hotter back in Orlando now. I am trying to stay cool and here are some things that keep me from melting like a popsicle in the sun.

This is my favorite sunscreen: Banana Boat Ultra Defense. It goes on like a lotion and is less greasy than other kinds. It is also waterproof and has an extra defense in it to protect against the sun. The only problem was that it was so hot at the beach, it was sweating right off!

Smoothies are great for when it's too hot to eat a big meal. My favorite is the Leapin' Lizard at Planet Smoothie. It's made of peaches and strawberries. Yum! The name also reminds me of the musical Annie :)
A great pair of shades are also important to protect your eyes. Mine are Kate Spade (not the ones pictured) and I love them because they are polarized and the inside is pink!

A lightweight dress will keep you cool. I pretty much live in dresses in the summer because it's the only thing I feel like putting on.

Anyone else have some great beat the heat tips?

GREAT ways to stay cool! SPF, especially!

I went for a midnight swim last night to beat the heat and snuck in a second workout because I ended up swimming laps for 30 min!

stay cool, well you already are!

Thanks for posting the sunscreen review...I think I'll have to pick that up for this weekend, I plan on spending all day Sunday at the pool!

neutragena makes a cooling mist sunblock that is great when you are hot--also evian water mists are great. Going in the water always cools me down. welcome home! xo

I always wear a high SPF! And you gotta love smoothies! I always freeze a bottle of water overnight and pack it for the beach. It melts and stays cooler longer.

Watermelon is my favorite cool-off summer thing! And I've been living in dresses too -- it is so humid and they seem to not stick to you as bad!

It's sweltering in Tampa too. I'm thankful for the pool and AC. Glad you had a great vacation!

I haven't had to wear SPF completely yet due to the horrible weather up here so far this summer!

Once it warms up, I might remember and have tips on staying cool :)

freeze grapes! They get super cold and are so great on a chilly day, and healthy too!

Love this list!

I will have to try that sunscreen. I don't like the heavy and greasy stuff either. Your Kate Spade sunglasses sound cute and polarization makes such a big difference.

I'm glad you had a nice time on vacation!

What brand is that dress? I'm going to the beach in a few weeks and could use a few new dresses!
