JLGO recap

Good morning! Thanks everyone for helping  me decide on an outfit. I went with everyone's suggestion and wore the first dress. It was a hit! I got a lot of compliments and the president said she just loved the dress. So thanks everyone and smiles all around :)
I had a fabulous time learning a little more about Junior League and I met a lot of great women. I turned in my paperwork and I am excited to get started. Saturday, Jan. 24 is the retreat. I heard we're taking a bus tour to see all the places JLGO works with and doing some other fun team building exercises.
I'm sure many of you feel the same way — it feels great to be getting involved in something and having a group to be a part of, especially to do good for the community. I was very involved in many organizations in college and since I graduated I have missed having those commitments in my life. I moved to Orlando for my job, not knowing a soul, and I worked hard to build a life here. I found a wonderful church home, met friends and my amazing boyfriend, got involved in my dance troupe and a few other things here and there and now it's time to reach out again and find something new so that I can continue to grow. That's where Junior League comes in. Many of the women I met last night had similar stories and I'm excited to get to know them better. Junior League does such great projects and I know we'll have fun volunteering for the community.
Thanks again for everyone's encouragement! It's so fun to read about all of your stories and experiences with Junior League as well :)

How fun! I am going to a JLA event here in a few weeks. A current member was kind enough to extend an invitation.

I hope it all works out for you! I love doing philanthropy, and they are just so involved!

so glad you had a great time and the dress was a hit! Although I knew it would be, how can you go wrong in Lilly?

You're in dance too? How fun! I love dancing (though mine is limited to wild flailing around the living room that would terrify most observers.)

I can't wait to learn more about the JL here!

Awww I'm so jealous, that sounds fun! I'm also a huge stalker- did I see a comment of yours somewhere that said you went to Elon?

I'm so glad that you had a great JL experience! I joined in DC and LOVED it. I called it my "big girl sorority" actually. I'm trying to like it more up here- it's just so different and small. But I'm trying hard to like it more in case I end up moving again in another year and transfer again.

Yay and lucky you who has such an easy joining process! In Dallas we have this sort of intense process you follow and you have to gather 3 sponors from the JLD and only two can be sustainers. Each member can only sign for one new memeber, but it can get hard to find people to sign if you wait too long! Thank goodness everything worked out for me. I turn in my form tomorrow and we start things in May and have retreats over the summer. I am so excited to follow in my mother's footsteps and be a leaguer!!
