O Christmas Tree

We had a great run with The Singing Christmas Trees 2009! It is bittersweet that it's over. It was such a fun show to do. I have some pictures of a few of our costumes. Below are the trees. If you're not familiar with the concept, look closely and you'll see people lining row by row all the way up. That is the choir members! There is also a full orchestra and full cast of dramatists and dancers. It will be aired worldwide on tv again, but I'm not sure of the dates yet. This year's theme was "Reflections" and it was based around an attic (you can see a little of the set in the picture below). It was a wonderful experience and I loved being part of it once again!

I am headed home to Atlanta in the morning. My sister's wedding is this weekend! We are all looking forward to it and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures. Tomorrow I am hosting the bachelorette party. Posting will be very inconsistent over the next couple weeks, but I will try to pop in when I can. Have a very merry Christmas!!

Christmas cheer!

A great thing about living in Orlando is there is always something fun to do. The other night I went to see The Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios and it was spectacular as always. Christmas music fills the air, the lights twinkle and dance and fake snow falls to the ground. What could be better? It certainly got me in the Christmas spirit.

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
- Elf

Now go spread some cheer!!

"Come on, we're going for a sleigh ride"

" . . . Christmas time is here again. Come on, we're going for a sleigh ride. To spread good cheer again."

Those are some lyrics from one of the songs we dance to in The Singing Christmas Trees. I had my favorite tea below and it reminded me of it and I have been singing the song in my head all day :) We did four shows this past weekend and it went really well. We have three shows to go this upcoming weekend. I'll try to get some pictures.

Moving on . . . if you're looking for a great tea, Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride is delicious! Although not as good as the real thing, it just may keep you from eating one too many Christmas cookies :)

What's your favorite holiday drink? I also love gingerbread lattes.

Winter Wonderland

Today, I am dreaming of snowflakes. I am wishing it were chilly enough to break out the sweaters, scarves, boots and winter pea coats. Although it is still a bit too warm here in Florida for cold weather clothes, a girl can still dream. So, today I will dream I am window shopping on Fifth Avenue all bundled up. To keep my fingers warm, I would gladly wear either pair of the gloves below. The rest of my dream day would be a carriage ride in Central Park followed by my favorite show of all time - The Rockettes :) Happy December!

Tommy Hilfiger Ruffle Cashmere Gloves

Tommy Hilfiger Ella Leather Bow Gloves - lined with cashmere

Lucky for me, I dance in all sorts of winter clothing in The Singing Christmas Trees. I wear everything from sweater dresses and leg warmers to winter sweaters, scarves and hats. Oh what fun - my own personal winter wonderland. Cheers to a fabulous opening night last night!

Have a cupcake . . . or two

Thank you all for your sweet comments and for keeping my family in your prayers. Everything went as well as it could and heaven has a new angel. I know my PaPa is smiling down on us. Thanks for making me feel so loved!

I am on to my next adventure now - The Singing Christmas Trees show I am dancing in. Opening night is tomorrow and we've been practicing and perfecting. It will be shown on TV worldwide so I will be sure to let you know when.

Also, my sister is getting married in just a couple weeks. I am the maid of honor and have been planning the bachelorette party. My sister wanted a sleepover theme and I decided to turn it into a cupcake decorating party as well. Here is the invitation I found - Preppy Cupcakes. Fitting, yes? :) I will share more as I continue to plan.

Thanks again for being such sweet "friends" to me. My posting and commenting has been and will be a bit sporadic for a bit until things calm down. I will be reading and will do my best to respond.
Au revoir for now - remember to "Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake!"

Happy Thanksgiving (early)!

I am thankful for family. I got word this morning my grandpa passed away last night so I am flying out soon to be with my family. My grandpa was a wonderful man. He was a pilot in the Navy and went on to law school and career in tax law. He was the best grandpa I ever could have asked for. He was kind, thoughtful, caring, creative and most of all funny. He always knew just how to make us laugh. He called me his little pumpkin. He is in heaven now and I know he is smiling down on us all.

I am thankful this Thanksgiving to have had him in my life.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and enjoy being with those you love most!

Work, Dance, Sleep - Repeat!

Hi everyone! I am sorry I have been so MIA lately. Things have gotten a bit crazy! I had a wonderful time at the wedding last weekend. It was a pretty pink and green affair! The bride was beautiful and it was great to see a few of my Sigma Kappa sisters. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

Rehearsal dinner in downtown Grapevine, Texas.
It was a western theme and we had mexican food and learned to do the Texas Two-Step.

Here is my bff Emily and I in our boots.
It was so fun because we all wore boots!

The next day the sweet bride sent E. and I to the Gaylord Texan for manicures at the spa. It was so nice and relaxing and we had a blast checking out all the Christmas decorations.

E. and I were asked to be the guest book attendants and to help hand out programs. We felt very special to be included!

Here is a pic of my corsage and my nails from the manicure. I went with a sparkly gold color.

The wedding party! The flowers and everything were pink and green and the bridesmaids wore very pretty green dresses.

I loved this D that hung over the fireplace.

All in all, it was a wonderful wedding. I also go to go to the outlets and downtown Grapevine for shopping and lunch at a cute little bakery. I ended up only with a cute Christmas ornament to remind me of my time in Texas. Congrats to the happy couple!

Lately work and dance have taken up my time. Performances start in just two weeks so we are practicing, practicing, practicing! Tomorrow rehearsal is 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Yikes, wish me luck!
I will be back sooner than later, I promise.
Happy Friday!

Full-speed ahead

Hi everyone, life has been tres tres busy and action-packed. I've had all sorts of fun adventures! Here are a few fun things I've been up to in the past week.

I finally rode the new roller coaster at Universal - Rip Ride Rockit. It was intimidating! As you can see, it goes straight up so you're laying on your back as it starts. The cool part was once you sit down you pick a type of music and then select a song you want it to play while you ride. Each seat has speakers so you only hear your song and no one else's. I chose Glamorous by Fergie. It was fun to ride along to that and it calmed my nerves.

I ran the Harvest Hustle 5K for Junior League. It was a fun event we put on! I ran without training at all and finished at around 30:27. I will take it! Next time I will make time to train.

With work, I went to an all-day seminar called Get Motivated. There were some great speakers! I learned a lot about leadership, being positive and taking action. Above is Laura Bush. What a classy, polished and down-right sweet lady she is. I loved her speech. She gave an update on what the family is up to and spoke of her time at the White House and her perspective on different things they went through, 9/11 etc.

Colin Powell was also amazing. I just loved his leadership style and the stories he told. Other speakers included Zig Ziglar, Rudy Giuliani and Lou Holtz among others. They were great as well.

I also went to a bachelorette dinner, helped the bride make chocolate dipped pretzel rods for favors, attended a lifegroup (like sunday school) party and had 15 hours of dance practice. I love the busy life I lead - well usually ;)

Tomorrow, bright and early, I am heading to Grapevine, Texas for a sorority sister's wedding weekend. My college bff and I are flying out and going to be handing out programs and be the guest book attendants. I am thrilled to be part of her special day!

Anyone have any fun suggestions for things to do in Grapevine? We are going to the spa at the Gaylord one morning. We won't have a car, but the hotel has a shuttle that can take us to local places.
Fun things to do?
Good restaurants?
DFW here I come!!!

A pumpkin-filled fall

I went a little pumpkin crazy this year and set out to indulge in many pumpkin items. Here are some that I liked the most.

1. Stonyfield pumpkin pie yogurt
2. Einstein's pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese
3. Starbucks pumpkin spice latte
4. Pumpkin cheesecake
5. Pumpkin pancakes
6. Einstein's pumpkin bagel poppers
7. Starbucks pumpkin muffin
8. Starbucks pumpkin scone

I tried to get a pumpkin doughnut from Krispy Kreme and that mission failed - no luck.
What pumpkin items did you try?

Living for the weekends!

Hello hello and happy Monday! Don't the weekends just go by too fast? Friday I had my very first blogger meet-up. Princess Freckles from Her Highness of Cute was in town on her honeymoon and we met up at Disney Boardwalk where we both had an Ultimate Arnold Palmer. Very yummy indeed - Arnold Palmer with a kick ;) How sweet of her to meet up while she was on her honeymoon! I got to meet her wonderful new husband as well and they are just the cutest couple. We had the best time chatting away about everything and her wedding sounded amazing! She is just so much fun and I'm so glad we got to meet. She plans to come back to Disney many more times so in Mickey fashion - See you real soon! Thanks again for meeting up!

After that my boyfriend and I walked right on over to Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival. If you have never been, I highly recommend it! Each country plus a few others have stations with food and wine from their country. You can just eat and drink around the world trying all sorts of things. It is fabulous!

And then came Halloween. Half of the day I volunteered at a Junior League fall festival, which was so much fun because all the little kids came in costume. Then it was time for my costume. I decided to go with Elle, complete with little dog in tow (couldn't find a Bruiser look alike though.) Unfortunately I forgot my Tiffany jewelry to complete the look! At least my sunglasses were pink though :) T. went as Derek Shepherd from Grey's Anatomy. He has dark curly hair and does look rather like McDreamy!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Time to move on to Thanksgiving now!

Orange you glad it's Halloween!

Happy Thursday! We are that much closer to the weekend and to most importantly, Halloween! I am loving your votes for my Halloween costume. It looks like Elle is winning. I still haven't made up my mind, but will be sure to share when I decide on a costume. I realized this week that I do not have enough orange in my wardrobe. I am in need of orange! Here are some fun choices:

{Tory Burch}

The countdown is on for a candy-filled weekend full of tricks and treats!

Pumpkin Pancakes

While I was home visiting my family a couple weeks ago, we made pumpkin pancakes and they were so delicious. I highly recommend this recipe! It's simple to make and will put you in a fall mood for sure.

Pumpkin Pancakes (Martha Stewart recipe)

1 1/4 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp each of ground ginger, cinnamon and salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of ground cloves
1 cup milk
6 tbsp canned pumpkin
2 tbsp melted butter
1 egg

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and spices. In a separate bowl, stir together milk, pumpkin, egg and melted butter. Fold wet ingredients into dry mixture. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and pour in 1/4 cup batter for each pancake. Cook pancakes about 3 minutes per side. Enjoy!

Cute as a button

I was recently introduced to a company, Konjono, whose motto is "really cute hats!" When the name Konjono, meaning it's beautiful in Amharic (the primary language of Ethiopia), was stumbled across by the owners — at once they new it was the perfect name for their business. It was just the feeling they hoped their hats would evoke, with a dose of great big smiles on the side.

Konjono started out in 2003 as a hand decorated lampshade with special ribbons and eventually evolved into hats with ribbons. The hats are designed and made in the United States and use quality fleece and grosgrain ribbon. You can even custom design your own. The owners, Deborah and Anne, recommend looking in a Crayola box to find the name of the color you are looking for and they'll go from there. How fun!

Konjono was kind enough to send me a sample of one of their most popular designs, the Hot Pink Crab. It is sure to brighten any winter day with it's pink, green and crab bundle of fun! The hats come in a variety of sizes and I have the most adorable, pink-loving 5-year-old friend who will have her eye on this one since it's just her size :)

There are hats for boys as well. One of my favorites is Gone Fishin' (below).
Another option for the older bunch is the school spirit line. There are over 50 universities represented and the hats would be perfect for those icy cold winter days trekking across campus. The one below isn't Elon, but it is Elon colors. Go phoenix!
I threw in the Georgia Tech one as well since it's my sister's alma mater. Go jackets!
If you want to check out the hats for yourself, you can find them here. Happy shopping!

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. My grandpa is still in serious condition, but hospice is helping to keep him comfortable. I was really glad I was able to get home and see him. He is a special person in my life. It was also nice to take a break and be home for a week visiting my family. Life is busy to the max with tutu time in full action - I have already had two five-hour dance rehearsals this week on top of work plus a few Junior League projects going on, so i will do my best to keep up with regular posts.

On a happier note, I received this fabulous plate (Boatman Geller Madison Damask) from The Preppy Princess giveaway! I even embraced my less than fortunate monogram :)

I just love The Preppy Princess! Her comments always brighten my day and she is such a genuinely kind and fun individual. Her store is full of preppy pink and green wonderfulness. Here are a few of my favorite things.

Thanks again Preppy Princess for making me smile!

I'll be back later with a product review to share. Have a great Wednesday!

Hello everyone! Sorry to run out on you, but it was a hectic week/weekend. Full of fun, too, of course. I am now home visiting my family this week. My grandpa is very, very ill so please keep him and my family in your prayers. I am taking a little blogging break while I am home and will be back to posting again soon. Have a wonderful week!
